GOP - the same group that was steering the ship when it hit the ice berg.

YES WE CAN; LOL. Perhaps if this FAILED administration and Congress had attempted to fix the ship before setting sail all around the world, their ship would not be sinking right now. Admit the fact that the Liberal agenda has been nixed in less than four years by the American public for FAILED Leadership and FAILED economics.

WRONG!! Better do some history checking bud.. Nice lie though. But the DEMOCRATS had control of congress when the mess started in 08.
by retm-w October 25, 2010 3:19 PM EDT
And the dems are trying to steer a ship with a broken rudder, and aren't smart enough to fix it.
by imnho October 25, 2010 12:16 PM EDT
It would be sad if history repeats itself. The eight years that the necons were in control were a disaster for the country. There is no reason to think that they learned any lessons and every reason to think that if they return to power that the amount of foregin outsourcing will skyrocket and they will look for excuses to got to war.

. In 2006, Independants were tired of One-Party rule and voted for a Democrat Congress for the purpose of " Checks & Balances " ..... NOW, in 2010, we have One-Party rule and will vote a Republican Congress for the purpose of " Checks & Balances " . ....... ................ .............................. ......................... .......................... .............. . . THE ALTERNATIVE OF A DEMOCRAT VICTORY IS A DARK FUTURE . . . . . . . . DEMOCRATS FEED ON IGNORANCE, FEAR, AND DESPERATION. DON'T REWARD THEM FOR ITt.

you have taken the republican strategy for your own. very good. attack your opponent where you are weakest... consider georgie boy bush... he was a draft dodger and john kerry was a war hero. sooooo, the republicans dragged up a bunch of lunatic ex-military boys to swiftboat kerry. attack your opponent where you are weakest... if kerry responds then he is just reacting and dredging dirt... great strategy.... your strategy here is claim that democrats feed on ignorance and fear and desperation.... but really the republicans fueled two wars on lies, cut funding for schools, used 911 in innumerable ads for years... they are the scumbags you protest about. wake up "freewillydualism"
by SimpleJewishMan October 25, 2010 12:13 PM EDT
You are right . One-Party rule is bad NO MATTER which party is ruling . Therefore, for Checks & Balances, we need a Republican Congress ,
by Cattzen October 25, 2010 2:19 PM EDT
Republican Congress entails CHECKS to and from their Special Interest Corporations, and Balances in Offshore TAX FREE Bank Accounts.
by retm-w October 25, 2010 3:29 PM EDT
addnarm So your saying serving in the Air National guard is draft dodging. I'll bet there are a lot of Guardsmen that have spent a couple of tours in iraq and afghanistan that would difffer with you. Also kerry was no hero, no more then anyone else that served in the Nam.

The Dems have no one to blame but themselves! They got what should have been considered a mandate from the public the last election to get busy and make things work! And instead, they chose corporate America over the public that put them in office! So, maybe it's appropriate if the public fires them, and turns it over to the Reps. But, the Reps had better not 'take it for granted' if they get it back, or, in 2012, they'll lose it again! And, we'll play this game until the public wises up at the local level and unites behind third party candidates!

hey got what should have been considered a mandate from the public the last election to get busy and make things work! And instead, they chose corporate America over the public that put them in office!----------------------Brilliant! Put in the party that is being backed by millions of dollars from the Chamber of Commerce and a handful of billionaires, that will learn them!

"Brilliant! Put in the party that is being backed by millions of dollars from the Chamber of Commerce and a handful of billionaires, that will learn them!" pubs, you need to get your talking points from something other than the Democratic Kool-Aid comic you seem to be so dependent on. The chamber is buying up candidates on both sides and both parites are backed by handfulls of billionaires. They are two instruments playing in the same band.
by pubsrtoast October 25, 2010 2:27 PM EDT
by inketolstoy- The chamber money that is flowing to Democratic candidates is flowing to so called blue dogs, Republican lite. However, I agree that with this much money in our politics you and I don't have a chance.

O(ne would guess the 'ownership' team at CBS is pulling all stops by slanting articles almost clamoring for a GOP win. This started in July and is probably related to the Financial Reform Bill. Don't be fooled, Wall Street dwellers are behind the news slant. Dems will win, because the Dems will get out and vote. The alternative of a Republican victory is a dark future.

The House has a better chance at flipping than the Senate. Its tough to predict thoe house races, as we saw earlier this year and last with Murtha's old seat and NY23. As far as the senate goes, the latest polling has Manchin up 10, Ill is tied, Pa is tied, Ky is tied,NV is tied, WA is leaning Dem, CA is leaning Dem. Only ND, Ark & Ind seem locks at this point.

The Conservative Agenda we all experienced since 2000 seen lost jobs, increased governmental spending, unnecessary war, pollution, lack of new energy policy, corruption and privation of tax dollars going into the back pockets of Republican Cronies. We've already been through this, the Republicans under the Obama Administration have done nothing beneficial to resorting the lifestyle we ounce enjoyed as Working Class Americans and have acted as obstructionists to impede the recovery of the US Economy. If, the GOP regains power in Congress they will make decisions to allow themselves to gain Wealth again on our tax dollars while offering absolutely nothing to the American People that pay the taxes.

LOL! Surely the voter would not be that ignorant. If it happens they deserve what's coming. Gridlock government. Republicans had a chance to create their "utopia" for more than 6 years during Bush Jr's term. In 2006 voters threw them out of control of both houses. Republicans feed on ignorance, fear, and desperation. Don't reward them for it.

Ambinder forecasts a dreary future for Democratic retention of control in Washington, with nary a hope it will occur. This means the millions who've come out to see President Obama on his whirlwind tour-de-nation campaign in support of his party will have shown up for naught (unless losing by less than they thought is gratifying to some). But I believe, so I will keep hope alive that his effort, plus the memorable gaffs the reactionary Tea Baggies have lent us ("I am not a witch" comes to mind as one of the best lines of this, or any, campaign) may change the political dynamic by election day. It would be a major upset if Obama's forces rallied to hold on, yet most pundits (Ambinder included) aren't taking chances: there is too much money sloshing around - too much intense heat from Palin, Rove and the Koch billionaires on behalf of the far right. I'll just have to go down to the stream, unbound, as it were, by logic, and pray to the Aqua Buddah that another miracle hits the scene in time to forestall the sort of social, political and mental chaos which would ensue should the nattering nabobs of negativism get their victory.
